My experience with the University of Phoenix has been positive and highly educational. initially started my academic journey here by earning my associate degree, which was a great experience. While I left for a time and explored other online schools, Including Strayer which was a good experience overall-I ultimately returned to the University of Phoenix because Strayer did not offer a doctoral program. Overall, has been rewarding, and I am grateful for the opportunities and learning I have received here.

I was skeptical at first to pursue an online degree but was quickly reassured. The professors were great, the dissertation process led me through to completion, and I have been able to apply what I learned on the job. Some parties are reluctant to go to a for profit school online and so was I at first. I have met numerous people who attended doctoral programs at brick and mortar schools who take 10 years to discover they will be permanently ABD. My chair got paid the same if i finished my dissertation... Read More in 2 or 6 years. Therefore, he was motivated to encourage me through the process challenging me to work ahead. As a result, I completed the entire program in 2 months under 4 years while working my day job. It was challenging but definitely doable. Bottom line: I am glad I went to UoP.

For anybody who is considering online coursework at the graduate or doctoral level, the University of Phoenix is a great university to attend. Compared to my collegiate experiences her in Ohio, UOPX has a very solid, rigorous doctoral program. In addition, faculty and students, alike, make academic success a priority. I enrolled in University of Phoenix to work on a doctorate in management. Entrance into the school was easy, it took me a couple of classes to learn how to complete courses on-line but my GPA is 3.97 out of 4.0 so I did well in all of the courses; most were challenging, required a huge time commitment, but were good courses. The issues were with the dissertation process. Committee selection is critical and I chose a chair who was knowledgeable about my research method and topic, unfortunately, he... There was not a second committee member available for over 9 months because the school did not have enough qualified committee members who knew anything other than education so teachers were fine but I was not. Of course, when I finally found a committee member with very little support from the school that gladly took my money for each class, there were many new requirements that took me an additional six monts to complete. The external reviewer had different opinions about the level of detail, the amount of information, and what should be in the proposal. Again, this is the luck of the draw because other dissertations written with the level of detail I provided are published. There is no consistency in requirements and depending on who you speak with the requirements change. $40,000+ into this expensive program I decided not to quit but try a different reviewer. The new editor wanted yet different information did not understand my topic or research method and appeared to miss information included in my paper. The sad part of this is with the exception on one instructor, they were all outstanding and I enjoyed the classes. It is the support staff that make this school a disaster and a poor choice for education. There are much better programs available based on my comparison of my experiences with those of friends who worked on similar degrees at other institutions. I do not recommend this school as there are many horror stories, the cost of education is very expensive, the university is only interested in profit, and the school is not respected in technology industries.
