First, let me preface this review by saying I already hold two degrees, from two different universities. None of those courses were online. However, as I am changing careers and a busy mother of three, I needed a degree program with much more flexibility. A good friend, a published doctor, recommended UoP to me. The online courses at UoP are perfectly designed, catering to all learning types. The majority of the staff are engaging professionals with advanced degrees in the field they are instructing.... Read More I am quite surprised more universities are not moving this direction especially when the cost of tuition alone requires most students to hold a full-time job. Two of my favorite courses so far are Anatomy and Physiology I & II. I have taken many biology courses, including advanced level genetics. I can honestly say that despite good grades in all courses, I felt I learned more at UoP than at any other institution. The online labs were more sophisticated and relevant to my intended career path than any lab I've ever taken in person. Using a pipette and hot plate is fun and all but I will never use either one in my career. I will however take and monitor blood pressure, need to understand healthy vs abnormal heart rates, glucose levels, assist patients in understanding the digestive process, etc. The only negatives I've experienced are a few lazy coeds that you have to work with on team papers (lazy coeds exist at every institute) and the finance department. I'd recommend you stay on top of details because they will not. Make sure you know every single cost and pay attention to how much comes back to you, if you are taking out student loans. Hopefully employers are not paying attention to negative reviews. If a student really has a desire to succeed, they will.

University of Phoenix is a great school to attend to further your education. All of my teachers were well prepared and obviously worked within the field they taught. Today is September 1, 2017, the day Post 9/11 G.I. Bill Veterans are supposed to get paid for attending school for the month of August. It's 3:57Pm California Time and still no payment has process for me or any of my military friends that attend University of Phoenix. I called my financial adviser who told me "University of Phoenix doesn't submit attendance until the 3-5 week of class." My 5th week of class will be September 11, 2017... and the VA doesn't pay out until the first which means I wouldn't... Read More get any of my August money until October! My bills are due at the beginning of the month when we are supposed to get paid not a month later. After 3 days of late rent my rent goes up 15% from $1,350 to $1,552 while I wait on UoPX to submit attendance somewhere in between the third and fifth week of class. Very UNRELIABLE!!!! Most people will choose this school because it only requires you to go to school 1 day per week but for setbacks you have to go through just because they want to do things on their own time is not worth it. My veteran friends who go to regular schools get paid at the first of the month every month and on time while over at University of Phoenix the Veterans have to wait until they feel like submitting the attendance so that we can get paid... although they get their money up front and don't have to wait.

I think UOP is okay. I've been a student with them for a long time. As a kid, there were the only adult alternative school I heard of and when I failed to take the SAT, they were the first to accept me. Collegiate programs are already exclusive settings. One really can not acquire too many occasions of "A Life Interrupted" or else...that's the door. Read More severely disliked, as well as professors. Now, I just figure that's life. I finally graduated with a degree after a long hard eight years and now I'm going to pursue a Master's from them. My advice for anyone looking to further their education with special circumstances would be to call around and ask questions from learning institutions you feel will best fit your needs. Be specific in what you are looking for or with what will benefit you the most. Ask specific questions such as, "What would be my overall study time for each week in regards to the program I want to enroll in or is it possible to have two full time jobs and still be successful in the program?" In some cases, the answer may be vague or unsatisfactory, so then I would suggest asking someone different and if still unsatisfied; applying to an institution that you feel meet your personal needs. College is expensive no matter where one applies. All schools hope to enroll students that will grant a favorable reflection, so be focused. Don't be hesitant to ask questions that may affect your ability to remain in good standing with any university and try to plan ahead if at all possible to avoid any additional fees or financial hardship. The programs with UOP normally starts off rather light and then progressively becomes challenging. I hope this helps :)
