I decided on UOP for my MBA and certificate in accounting to sit for the CPA exam. My undergrad was from community college and SDSU. Those school financial aid departments always had a solution and never had any kind of errors in disbursements, and if they did they did not hold me accountable for their mistakes. Read More very helpful and make remote learning less challenging. However, I have had nothing but bad experiences with financial aid! I mean this is a for-profit school. This is the department that should be staffed with competent and proficient people. They make so many internal errors and pass the blame to the student. Their errors cost money or you need to apply for more loans! Let's say you do all the process correctly, to access your loans is never smooth either. They just simply have unqualified staff handling your money! If it wasn't my last class I would just walk away! If for not all these financial aid setbacks this school is really great for working adults. As long as you can handle the added stress factors and anxiety that come with it, then by all means go for it!

I would highly recommend the University of Phoenix for several key reasons. As a military member, they are very accommodating in the idea of time. 2011 is the year I resigned from UOP. In my experience, there were too many factors that led me to the conclusion that students were not receiving the education they paid for. Many times, the focus of leadership was to keep students from complaining and therefore faculty were more often than not to lower the bar on assignments and classroom assessments of learning. Weekly papers are used to determine most of what makes up a grade. Plagiarism is rampant and many faculty members would rather overlook... In my personal experience, I would quiz students about their classes and learning, only to have to spend a portion of class to catch students up so we could proceed with the current course. Students are better served going to local colleges and universities as most now offer programs for working adults. Employers tend to disfavor degrees from online and for-profit universities. Your degree work and education will be better received from traditional schools.

The whole process from start to finish was a positive experience. The counselors even walked me through applying for financial aid and stayed on the phone until I was finished.
