I've been to plenty of online schools & this UoP is my top choice. It's one of the fewest universities that offer a competency program & it's within 4 months. It provided me the flexibility to turn in assignments whenever I want. No following a schedule or calendar. I felt the courses were fairly challenging & fair. I'm giving it 4 stars due to an experience I had with a course & overall quality of the program. Although it was a technical degree, it's mainly focused on papers & literature. There... Read More were no labs or anything. It's a tech degree & there should be labs. Second, I had a bad experience with a professor that was a harsh grader I had to retake the course. Pretty much half the course failed. He was one of the worst professors I have ever taken. I almost ended up wanting to drop the program entirely all because of him. But was able to punch through & pass the retake course with flying colors! And within a shorter time. Other than that, I completed the program for just $10k with great flexibility. So I can't complain. For the remainder of reviews that say their degree is useless, my response to them is You Make What You Can With Your Degree! You can't JUST rely on your degree to get a job. The world has become more competitive & talented. You need to put yourself to the top & showcase your skills & resume. Lastly, if you just want a paper (degree) to pass a checkmark with HR, this is it. If you are expecting to get a high end corporate job with this degree, look elsewhere. Government doesn't mind, if that's your goal.

I applied to the University of Phoenix to start my master's degree thinking that a Cybersecurity Certification will help me achieve my goals. It turned out that this is not a license; this is crap. Basically, it is a boot camp to get real licenses. Thank god I realized that the first day of school. I was confident enough to drop the program, and since I only open blackboard one day, I wouldn't have any financial responsibility. LOL. They do not have a grace period for master's degrees. Read More out that since I posted a personal bio on the first day of class, which btw did not count towards the final grade, they counted that as attendance; therefore, they charged me for a whole week of the course. Did I mention the program was online? Well, yes, charging attendance for an online class. This is the most ridiculous thing ever. These people are sharks. Remind me of a car dealership. Money before anything else. What a bad experience!!!

The University of Phoenix has been a great fit for me. I have tried a few different online programs and all have either been hard to use their platform or not engaging enough. Each course is 6 weeks for the graduate program and lots of work is required. In each course you are grouped with peers in each course to form a Learning Team. I attended the University of Phoenix long enough to complete the last two years my under-graduate degree program. I took about two month off after graduation and found that I continued to have this need to log in and check on assignments. The opportunity presented itself so I made the choice to move forward with the Masters of Information Systems degree program. The school supplied a generic syllabus for each class and allowed the instructor to customize the lesson plan. The classes were generally... Read More intense while students move from defining terms and memorizing facts to creating higher level individual thought through research and writing. As an online studies student, you will write and then write some more because that is how we prove participation and practice the art of writing. A typical masters level class requires six substantive (100 - 250 words) forum posts, learning team contribution, and individual assignments (1200 - 1800 words) during each week. The library offers multiple mathematics and writing tools to assist the student. As a writer I use the APA citation generator (LIFE SAVER), the Turnitin plagiarism check, and one heck of a grammar checker (WritePoint) that will nit pick your writing until you write properly. Learning teams were challenging because sometimes people do take advantage and will allow a team member to pick up slack while sharing the reward of a grade. We do what we have to do and as a result I am a better writer and thinker as a result of my time obtaining the masters degree. Personally, I feel transformed for the better. I now have the tool necessary to do research on any given subject which inevitably creates the side effect of no longer falling for conspiracy and/or the spread of incorrect information. If you have the willpower to complete a degree program it will change you. In retrospect, my metamorphosis seemed gradual but in fact was lightening fast as is the case with our own lives. After a three year break after graduation I enrolled and am now in the third week of the Doctoral of Management degree program and in four more years I hope to have defended and published my dissertation on.... If you take nothing from this review except some advise I hope you push forward with educational endeavors. Trust me, coming from a former high school drop out, if I can do it, so can you!
