During my capstone class, my final assignment grade was MA. My final class grade was MA. All of my class grades were MA. Five days after that last grade was posted, it was changed to NM. I got a message from the instructor that my comp 3 grade was changed after consulting with the program chair, stating a video presentation was required. I had submitted a video presentation. It stated the voice over presentation did not meet the standard. The rubric did not state that the student needed to be seen... Read More in the video or that an audience was needed. All other video presentations were similar to my submission. This caused a lot of stress for me. I reached out to my mentor and the instructor. The mentor did not understand why the grade was changed. She had seen my final the grade the day prior and knew I had completed that class, and the program about two months before the deadline. I finally was able to talk to the instructor who minimized this stating it was still being reviewed, and I should know for sure in a week. That is not what the message said. It was not still being reviewed. My grade had been changed from MA to NM. I re-prepared another video presentation to be ready to resubmit. My grade was changed back to MA the next day with no explanation or message. I reached out and then got a voicemail that the instructor had decided to change my grade back to MA. I confirmed that this would not change again with final grades. Two months later when grades were finalized, I received a group message that grades were finalized. My grade did not finalize on 5/26 as the message stated. I reached out the professor that day. I did not get a response, but my grade did finalize. A few days later I called in to check and confirm. My grades were final, and I requested my final transcript. On 5/29, I got a response from the instructor that she would check on my grades. This made no sense since they were finalized, and the instructor should know that. I already had my final transcript and had expedited my diploma. This experience at the end of my program was very stressful and disappointing. I hope no other student has to experience this miscommunication and communication breakdown in a master's level program. I have graduated with distinction and did well in my program. I prioritized my coursework and communication with my instructors. During this final experience, I did not feel respected as a student and professional. As I student, I was very dedicated to my education and had high standards for my performance. These changes, errors, and corrections were very traumatic at the time they occurred. Again, I hope another student does not ever have to experience this, which is why I am informing you of my experience.

Despite my enthusiasm for my degree and the skills I gained, I have received feedback from several employers stating that I am considered overqualified for certain positions. They express concerns that my advanced degree may lead to expectations that exceed what the role can offer, or that I might quickly seek more advanced opportunities.

This situation has been frustrating, as I am genuinely passionate about the roles I apply for and eager to contribute my expertise to any organization. While I appreciate the value of my education, it seems that some employers are hesitant to see how my qualifications can benefit their teams.

Overall, I love the University of Phoenix and the education I received, but I hope that employers can recognize the potential in candidates like me who are eager to bring their knowledge and experience to the workplace, rather than viewing us solely through the lens of our qualifications.

I was not planning on getting another degree. However, CMS thought otherwise. I was truly getting it for the greater good of my hospital. However, each week, everything I learned was relevant to what was going on. My experience with this school was positive, the professors were very responsive, providing adequate guidance. They responded to questions and provided timely feedback on assignments. The advisors reached out to check in even when I brushed them off. They were interested in how I was doing personally and academically. Many mixed reviews about UoP. I may be in a different position than most others. I enrolled in the MHA program for self growth, not for career advancement. I am currently finishing the MHA program, capstone project. I have taken 11 on line courses and have to say have learned a great deal, even though I have been in healthcare leadership for 35+ years. I'm writing primarily to respond to some concerns here and to provide an update on the program. UoP offers both an traditional and accelerated program for MHA completion. If you're a clinician or other long-time health professional that did well in undergrad, I encourage you to consider the accelerated program. The program carries is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), which is preferred for military and government jobs. Use that preference to help your job search if you were unaware. And if you were unaware: why? Job progression and placement is a personal responsibility. How do you perform in your current job? If you're not consistently meeting and exceeding goals and a team player, of course you won't be given an internal promotional opportunity based on your degree obtainment. External want to hear what you have accomplished in your professional life. This is a professional degree, designed originally for those already working in the industry (Assignments altered for COVID restrictions/job loss). If you're working to advance your current career which is going well enough - take accelerated and knock it out. If you dunno health care, do the classes. There is a slew of folk as described below that are in over their heads and will make team work difficult at best. Team work became less taxing about 3/4 of the way through the program (lol). The individual classes run about $2200, not $3k listed below. I opted out of a specialization, as all are topics I feel I've covered professionally. I suppose my overall point is that you get what you put into it. The schooling is for the education and self growth, not for a piece of paper. If your mindset is that paper will magically open doors, don't bother taking a spot in class. If you think/know it will be a tool in your career progression kit, rock n roll.
