Degree: Counseling

I chose Cumberlands because it was affordable, but the entire process has been a nightmare. Hidden fees. Subpar education. Rude admin staff. Overall I am unsatisfied with my experience at the University of the Cumberlands and would not recommend it.

Degree: Counseling

I graduated from this program in Mental Health Counseling but the program went drastically downhill after the change in administration in 2018. During that time many long term professors left the school and they hired many adjuncts of variable quality. Some professors were g re at and some very unprofessional. The administration would not reply to the emails, especially the dean. You have to find a practicum and internship in your own state or you will not graduate. It has been a great struggle,... Degree: Counseling

This is a mediocre school and master's counseling program, at best. The university has been advertising and growing too fast to keep up and most online students are treated like numbers, not actual paying students. The financial aid department is a terror and when calling in you will receive someone who basically just answers the phone but knows little about the complexities of the system. For that you will need to email the financial aid department and then you will receive mostly vague answers,... Read More

Degree: Counseling

I have never seen such unprofessionalism from any academic institution. Most (not all) of the professors treat the students like children and the financial aid department is the absolute worst. I am transferring to another university at the beginning of the year, thank goodness. Too many changes have happened (not for the benefit of the students). It is unorganized and stressful.

It has gone seriously downhill

When I began the program at UC, it was great. It has a few bumps here and there, but the cost and online schedule made it completely worth it. And then the administration changed. Suddenly, there were new rules in the middle of semesters without warning, the new person doing the scheduling got the semesters all messed up and despite this being my last semester, the graduation requirements have suddenly changed. Until the administration change I had a 4.0 I had worked HARD for. The first day of the... Read More

The program was amazing; its the administrative prosesses that are horrible. Getting started in the program was difficulty because of delays and exiting the program is difficult because of the delays and lack of response. The school clearly doens't have an apppropriate number of staff to support the growth of the student population. I'm not continuing in the doc program because I don't trust they can provide the necessary support. Great education, poor administrative/support mechnisms.
