Firstly, some of these review I find hilarious. I know plenty of people who graduated who have had great success. I used VA education benefits to pay for the program. I am now an MBA student at a top ranked university. I was worried I wouldn't get in at first, but I am holding a 3.9 and just as prepared as anyone else in the program. WGU isn't easy either, you don't have instructors, you just get a heap of material to study. Its all on you, that was the hard part for me. Overall I'm happy with the... Read More

I attended three different brick and mortar schools until finding WGU. Hands down the best collegiate experience I've had. Competency based learning is the future! I felt more engaged and more apart of a community than I ever did at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga or Central Texas State. I engage more with my program mentor and the WGU community than I did at other schools. I remember talking to a counselor one time before starting class at UTC and that was the extent of their involvement.... Read More

WGU allowed me to complete my Bachelors degree on my terms (for the most part). I was able to transfer in previous college credit and was rewarded for employment experience (industry certifications). The cost to attend also did NOT break our budget! Some of the reviews i've read talk about the irritating weekly calls, yes, they are annoying, but 1 hour per week (and their schedule is extremely flexible) should be no reason to give WGU a bad review. If i were starting all over (and i will be as i... Read More

I really loved WGU's Bachelor of Information Technology program. I transferred in an Associate degree, accelerated, got caught up by life and still finished in the listed 2 1/2 years. A few points: - This is self driven (but not independent) learning. You must have the drive. Your mentor is there to help you figure things out and keep you on track. The course mentors are like teachers, interaction is available, 1 on 1 or in webinars and cohort learning. - The degree is respected by employers, and... Read More

WGU is an amazing school for a self starter especially if that person does not need very much assistance and is able to research and find answers. I had an awesome mentor (Micah Pappas) who was very genuine and really held me to my goals. The school offers the flexibility to do as much as you can handle and I was usually able to pick up another class or two before the end of the term. Picking up additional classes allowed me to finish my BS ahead of schedule. In the IT industry we often face the... Read More
