After reading some of these reviews its clear people need a lot of hand holding. Let me clear some stuff up for future students or current students 1) This institution is competency based- that means you dont get credits that transfer. Once youre in the program, thats it. Does that suck sure it does, but it shouldnt be an issue If you finish. 2) As an online school they have to verify your attendance so you talk to a mentor every week. They help steer you through classes and set goals. Goal setting... Read More

After I finished my Bachelors I went straight into my Masters with WGU. Throughout the program I had the suppord of my mentor who I spoke to weekly as well as the course Mentors. You can think of your mentor as your "Human Deadline". Their job is to help when you need it, but more importantly to keep you moving forward. The importance of having someone you are accountable to when your not going to a physical campus cannot be understated. If you need help on a course you speak to a course Mentor.... Read More

The comprehensive learning is a joke. They set these high level of scores for each class making it difficult to learn and pass. No one graduates with higher then a 3.0 even if you earned a 4.0. If you want to go on and express to an employer that you had a great gpa that will never show. Except a 3.0

I had the most wonderful experience. My student mentor, as well as the course mentors are really and truly there for you every step of the way. Because you can learn at your own pace, there seemed to be much less stress than the traditional university route.

WGU advertises so many benefits about their programs, most I have discovered are untrue. starting with their education videos and materials, they are hard to understand, misrepresent information, and the tests and quizzes have incorrect answers when compared to the reading/videos. Not to mention the financial aid process is completely a farce. They request additional information every two weeks, and prolong the process until the student has to pay or be withdrawn. my experience is documented. Be... Read More

Western Governors University is an online school dedicated to training students in business and other disciplines. I have found the instructions on how to operate the software very easy to understand. The staff are so responsive that the student hardly feels separated by the virtual environment. The resources for study are excellent and the online library is above par. WGU is a must for students with humanities degrees but find themselves unemployable in the market.

The best part of Western Govenror's University is that the degree program is competency based. This allows the student to progress at their own rate. I was able to finish a two year degree in only one year completing seven classes per semester. Each student is also assigned a mentor that will assist to keep the student on track.

I LOVED my MBA program! As 50-year-old, longtime, small business owner, I had a crazy desire to get my MBA online. Why? There were business concepts that I kind of understood, but never had an opportunity to drill-down and REALLY comprehend them. Call it a Bucket List thing if you want. Much like other reviewers, I received my undergraduate degree from a prestigious, and expensive, West Coast university. That was almost 30 years ago. Recently, I was on a business trip in Florida and saw a repeating... Read More

The set up at this school is the future of advanced education. Classes go at the pace of the student. If you can complete all course elements in a week, your course takes you a week. If its a longer class that you struggle with more, you can take up to the entire term to complete it. Mentors are fantastic, course instructors are experts in their fields. An overall great experience. Somewhat lacking in 'after graduation' support, but they are making strides there as well.

I loved it because it was self-paced and I could work on my classes when I had the time. I could scheduled tests when it was convenient for me and I always had access to videos, course mentors or my student mentor if I needed help.

The program itself is incredibly well designed. The ability to go at your own pace gives the student full control over their education and costs. The course material covered was challenging but very useful. Individual mentors and course mentors are very professional and always willing to help. Where this school has issues is with job opportunities post graduation. Other schools help with the networking and getting the students in contact with companies that can make use of their skills. WGU is weak... Read More

The information I received from my Mentor was inaccurate on many accounts. The costs for my last quarter were 75% higher than I was told would be the worst case scenario. I was told I could receive a free 30 day extension easily to finish my final term, but this was later denied, costing a lot of extra money. I do not believe this university complies with title 9. Overall I am generally displeased with this university and the level of honest and truthful communication I received from several parties.... Read More

I really do like this graduate program, it's very flexible, facility is very nice and understanding. My pros would the at your pace work flow and how the school allows you to understand image information your retrieving. Cons would be the amount of interaction with other students, i.e. Decision boards within the section of study. And the proctored exams. Not being able to use the material or reference informations. Overall, it's a great school so far!

I am in the process of getting my MBA at WGU and honestly can't say enough positive things about it as long as you are a SELF MOTIVATED, hard working student. The experience has been an excellent one all along. (I already have three degrees from traditional colleges, including a law degree, so I have a good amount of comparison experience to offer). The coursework is actually interesting and relevant and you can basically set your own pace based on your life circumstances (something you could NEVER... Read More

I can only think of pros for my graduate program - the courses were challenging and required me to stretch and grow, but because they were completely applicable and relevant to the business world, the course work was exciting and fascinating. Everyone at the school works hard with you to ensure that you succeed, and they have an almost endless list of resources to assist you through your program. Maybe the only con is that because it is an online school you don't get to have the face-to-face interaction... Read More

I speak as a alumni of Western Governors University, having earning a masters in business administration in just over five months. I'm presently working on a second graduate degree with them and wanted to share some of my broader observations with the general internet. The good: - The price is great. - They are accredited. - They do allow acceleration mostly. - They're all online. The bad - The graders often don't have backgrounds in what they're evaluating. This creates a number of problems. - The... Read More
