I am not satisfied with this school for so many reasons. Tuition is less than what other schools, however, the quality of the teaching is poor. Instructors don't act like they are professionals. They treat you like you should know everything. I don't have any help with my instructors. They should work in that area. I would prefer to pay more and attend regular college. Never recommended this university.

I am so disappointed with the school. Enrollment counselors will say anything to get you to enroll, including "don't worry about paying now". The assigned mentor - I still don't know what their purpose is with the program. She has been on vacation more than working. Don't get me started on financial services: they gave me a bunch of terms, of which they assumed I knew about. The added stress from FS when your account is past due is pathetic. Enrollment counselors ( I have had 6) recommened different... Read More

I wish I had never had anything to do with this place. They are hard to work with and when is comes time to get your student teaching assignment they are extremely inflexible and can and will place you in a school that is 75 miles from your home. The website is poorly designed and hard to navigate and you have to put up with constant long phone calls that could have easily been emails. Do yourself a favor and find another school.

Excellent education programs for working adults. I taught full-time while completing this program and it wasn't easy, but the effort paid off. The main reason why I enrolled at WGU was to earn academic credits so that I would get pay raises with my employer, and I ended up learning a lot about educational technology too. I would return to WGU again.

I chose WGU because it was the best option for my life. My husband is in the military and moving around is a constant thing we have to deal with. WGU has been great because it let me work at my own pace. I liked that I had the freedom to finish as many classes as I could in a term. During my last term with WGU I have found to really dislike the many “support systems” offered. As WGU required, my mentor had to call me once a week or once every other week. They were pointless calls 99% of the time.... Read More

You get the education you pay for. If you are looking for something cheap and fast, this is the school for you. If you are looking for a quality education that will help you succeed in your future career, this is not for you. If you like templates and mass emails this is for you, If you like like a personal experience, skip this one. While I got the degree, I am really behind the eightball in relation to my new peers who got a more quality education. You decide what is best for you. I am now going... Read More

I already had my BSN and always wanted to get my MSN to have more options in future. I decided to go with WGU because of mainly two reasons. First, it's competency based. Second, I knew I would commit myself to study one or two hours a day even after a long hard work day. To sum up, if you're a student who waits until the end of a semester, it's not the school for you. I worked full-time, studied 15-18 hours a week, and finished BSN to MSN-Education in 10.5 months. The main thing is to do the work... Read More

Offered me great flexibility for an affordable price. Great for people who want or need the degree but not any prestige of where it comes from.

WGU has an entirely different learning philosophy: to make education affordable, convenient, and easy-to-access. Electronic textbooks are provided for each course and are covered in the cost of tuition. Someone is available 24/7 for tech support, and an advisor calls weekly to check in. The tuition is very fair and opens the way for atypical students to get graduate education. While I was in my last semester I began working at a renowned university based on my graduate degree. Networking is difficult,... Read More

I graduated in 2014 with my BAIS degree here and went right back to get my masters in learning and technology. This was by far the most rigorous college I attended and felt prepared for my current teaching profession. You have to be self motivated and push through. The papers that are done have to be perfect to be accepted as they are graded with a rubric that you cannot miss points on (some allow 3/4 points). I had to work for my degrees which I could not say about the other colleges I went to.

Overall, WGU is a great school that has the benefits of an "at your pace" class setting with flexibility and financially affordable degrees. My biggest complaint is the lack of rigor for most of the courses. With the requiring pass rate at 60% for the majority of the courses, and without a grade system to hold students accountable or push them to gain adequate knowledge pertaining to a course, it is easy to skate by in the classes. For some that may be seen as a benefit but for others that want to... Read More

I really recommend this university. It offers an amazing curriculum that students can complete at their own pace, which is very convenient for students who have a job. Nobody tried to slow me down at any point, with hard word I was able to complete my degree in less time. Mentors are knowledgeable and eager to assist students. They offer webinars and cohorts to support students achieve their goal, graduation.

A lot of these questions don't apply to me because it's an online school. I don't know about the diversity, or surrounding area because the school is all online. Overall I like that it is a university that lets students go at their own pace. As of right now I have finished 3/4 of my second class by the projected date they gave me to finish my first class. So it feels good to be ahead of school with the likelihood that I will graduate by the end of 2016.

I am able to work on my master's program in the evenings and weekends without feeling overwhelmed. The staff/mentors are always available if I need them Also, the cost is very affordable at Western Governors. You are able to pay for the amount of time that you need to complete your degree. My plan is to be done in one year. I don't really have any cons... Read More

My experience has been positive, though I agree with other reviewers that WGU is not for everyone. College isn't for everyone, either, but if you are considering an online program it is probably important to note some of the differences between virtual and brick-and-mortar venues. Each has its pros and cons, many of which have been tallied in other posts so I won't repeat them. I would, however, like to add value to this thread by commenting on the nature of WGU's programs as being "competency-based."... Read More
