WGU did not provide me enough support during my time student teaching. I attempted to change my Dt start date and the field experience team was impossible to reach and unhelpful. there were many aspect of the experience that were not communicated well to me and I had to spend thousands of dollars for another term, I had everything completed but I needed one more day for field experience, and instead of finding a reasonable way to fix that I of course had to give them more money for another term.... Coming from a four year brick and mortar state college, WGU was quite a bit different. PROS- 1. More availability to support services, such as advising, financial services, library etc. At a traditional college, you had to work around in person appointments which is frustrating a lot more flexibility with WGU. 2. Read More wish the price was a little bit less since this college doesn't have any in person resources that my brick and mortar college had such as sports, rec, libraries, study halls, food, etc. However, this college was about half the cost of tuition as my brick and mortar college, so in the end that was a major plus! 4. Course work was easy to navigate and complete. Nothing crazy difficult or confusing. 5. Everything online means you can do school work anywhere at anytime. CONS- 1. The #1 con is that this will NOT feel like a college experience if you are someone searching for this. This will not give you friends, experiences and entertainment like my traditional college did. But thats okay, I already got that experience but just wanted to note that for anyone considering this college. 2. May not be as prestigious sounding on resumes. There is a lot of back and forth about this but ultimately I have heard that this college on your resume does not look as good as a traditional college. 3. The masters course was not as rigorous as I would have liked. It felt very easy the entire time (it was time consuming but still easy). I really would have like to been challenged so it felt like my masters meant something.

The workload is very rigorous especially during student teaching and last few courses to end thenprogram which made me feel along with the host teacher whom i worked with and other staff felt that I would be more than prepared as a future educator...other pros consist of the student handbook, resources, mentors, academic support staff are easily accessible for the website portal. Read More is very affordable and one of the cheapest and recognized online colleges that is nationally and regionally accredited. Guidlines for teacher certification for each state is outlined within the student handbook. You can complete your degree within 1year or four deoending on how fast you complete the courses your enrolled in. Cons are...you are expected to begin teaching after the first week of school, no face to face communication (web chat and phone) and may not be suitable for someone who needs to have concrete due dates, however, an outline of readings and guides and other resources is provided to help with pacing amd completing assignments.
