I am doing my grad program online. Although I miss the in-class experience, an online program allows me to work full time (40 hours a week). WGU staff are very helpful, there are many people you can talk on the phone with or via webcam, and they utilize technology to the best of their ability. I have always been an independent learner, so taking classes online fits my study-skills. WGU has been very helpful letting me know what tests are required in order to obtain state certification for teaching.

WGU is an excellent university. I am currently enrolled in the Masters of Education- Mathematics 5-9 program. I am given 6 months to complete 8 credit hours. I complete one class at a time. My advisor is wonderful we have weekly conference calls. If I need help I can email her or call and she gets back to me the same day. WGU is non profit so not as expensive and I like the way their program works. I had a student mentor that called me weekly the first six months then bi-weekly after. She helped me set goals and provided a lot of encouragement and assistance. Whenever I was having a problem I could count on her to either help me herself or get someone else at the university that was moire knowledgeable about my specific dilemma. I heard about one student that finished all his requirements in less than a year, but it took me the full two years. As long as you finish all the classes, called CU's, you commit to taking each semester you can take as long or short a time as you need. I was working on a Masters in High School Math Education and I had an education class I finished in two weeks but I also had a math class that took me two months to get through. But I did it!! The classes are all pass/fail so your overall GPA will not show any real changes. Rather than conventional "tests" there are tasks you complete for each class. When you submit a task, it is reviewed and if changes are needed you work on it to fix it until it is correct. If you run into a problem, and just can't get past a task, there are course mentors that will provide guidance to get you on the right track. My diploma was mailed today. I cannot wait to get it
