Adult Accounting Major in search of a degree, Graduated 2019

I am finishing up my third term at WGU and will graduate next year (Dec 2019) with a Bachelor of Science, Accounting degree. This is not a degree program for the freshly graduated high school student. Its a degree for a busy, working adult that is competent but needs the piece of paper to prove it. Im not the type of person that enjoys lectures and homework. I want to learn the material, test and move on. If this sounds like you, WGU, Accounting is perfect.

WGU is a absolutely great school, It took me 2 years to complete my BS in Accounting, I could have finished a lot sooner but I procrastinated on a few things. It was no cake walk by any means. The courses are challenging and provide real life scenarios to the course work. I have re-enrolled for my MBA, now that I know first hand how WGU works I hope to finish in 1.5 years max. I love this school.

I love WGU! WGU is a non-profit university. They care about QUALITY education, not making money. They ensure you know the material forward and backward. There is no chance of cheating during testing which further displays the integrity and concern on a quality education. I love that I have been able to work at my own pace. No every student who applies will be accepted because they want to make sure WGU is a good fit for you.

I won't get on here and blast Ashford because some classes were pretty good in my earlier stages. I did think that the classes became a little too repetitive in that you would do an introduction, 2 discussion questions, and a paper. They might change a little around from class to class but i thought they should have put in some lecture classes where you could better communicate with the instructors.

However, as I got to my accounting classes, where I was required to dig in deeper I would have questions... Read More

Going through the core classes i didn't need too much help but going into my major, I wanted to fully grasp what i was doing and didn't feel that way. Decided this is my last class here at Ashford and going to another online school where they have lecture classes and I can also attend a local school if need be.

UCSB is right near the water - can be a bit distracting. Diverse student body. Beautiful people - may be typical of most beachside schools. Degree program was top notch, but I would recommend Cal Poly SLO if you are very focused on getting a solid job out of school. UCSB is more of a research focused school, Cal Poly is more applied. If you like to party and/or have lots of opportunities to have a successful college life, go here

Simmons has a great accounting program! Even though the program is fairly new, all of the business school professors that I've had were all committed to the success of their students. Every single one of my classmates is motivated and driven. The business school also has multiple resources for internships and careers. All of my classmates got at least one internship during their time at Simmons. The business school and professors do a great job preparing you for your future internships and careers.... Read More

San Diego State University was a very beautiful campus. I was in the College of business, Accounting. Coursework was quite challenging but that may be because I didn't really like accounting. The campus lacks diversity. The African American population doesn't make up to 5% of the school (my estimate)

UNLV takes all kinds of students and has an excellent Hospitality program, but other than that, there isn't much to say about the school. Students are not overly competitive. The student life at UNLV is rather non-existent because a lot of students do not live on campus housing.
