In-Depth Analysis of Our List: New Jersey's Best Online Business Degrees

New Jersey’s online business schools offer a wide range of options, from affordable tuition rates to programs with high earning potential for graduates. To help you make an informed choice when it comes to choosing the best online school in New Jersey with a business degree, we’ve reviewed each school’s unique strengths, accessibility, and career outcomes.

Here’s a closer look at the top programs for aspiring business leaders in the Garden State:

Public vs. Private Institutions

Public universities dominate online enrollment, with Thomas Edison State University (TESU) leading with 7,282 students who are studying for their degree completely remotely. TESU’s low tuition ($9,556) and solid median earnings ($67,245) underscore the value of public education for affordability and career readiness. By contrast, private schools like Rider University enroll far fewer students online (93) but boast higher recommendation rates (96%) and a personalized experience, reflected in their small 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

Why Earnings Matter When Choosing a Business Degree

Rutgers University delivers standout ROI among public schools. Despite higher tuition ($33,963), graduates earn a robust $77,221 annually, placing them in the top 5% nationally. In contrast, Centenary and Georgian Court offer similar tuition but significantly lower earnings ($55,373
and $49,925, respectively), emphasizing the importance of weighing cost against post-graduation outcomes.

The AACSB Advantage

AACSB-accredited programs, such as those at Rutgers, Montclair State University, Rider University, and New Jersey Institute of Technology, consistently produce stronger salary outcomes. Graduates from these institutions earn $60K-$77K, showcasing the value of accreditation in enhancing employment prospects. Conversely, non-AACSB schools like TESU and Centenary, while more affordable, reflect lower earning potential for graduates.

If you are military, avoid this school at all costs. Not at all military friendly. Have been dropped from courses with no reasonable explanation. Receiving tuition assistance through this school is one of the most complicated and difficult processes, and even if your TA gets approved, you may still be dropped from your course because the school is not on the same page. 0/5 stars

School has been life changing for me I waited for all my kids to complete school to start. I am now in Honors courses. Most of the professors are very hands on and do not hesitate to help. And they offer online tutoring when you don’t understand. Never be afraid to reach out to them. I still have professors from my first quarter still checking in on me and my progress.

I have taken a mixture of online and face to face courses from surrounding local community colleges. Many think that online coursework is easier, and that was true where I had attended previously, however, this is not the case at Saint Leo. Taking two classes every 8 weeks is a lot of work here, so be prepared to set aside a good amount of time each week for your class(es). I spend many hours studying and doing each assignment in between time off from working full time. The instructors are pretty... Read More

American InterContinental University provides a great online undergraduate program. I attended class at a regular college campus before AIU and was so glad I transferred. This school was great! I started my Associates Degree and finished with my Bachelors Degree. The instructors were amazing. There was only one instructor that wasn't available when we needed him but the school made sure to correct that before it became a major problem. My academic adviser was available when I needed him as well. You take away what you put in to your school. I worked hard and in the end my performance reflected that.
