Excelsior is a much better school than people think and the Nursing program seems to be giving them a bad reputation. I completed my BSHS in Healthcare Management from GWU in 2012 but decided to go into the Public Health field. After taking only 2 classes with GWU's online BPH program i transferred to Excelsior after researching their program and finding that it closely mirrored GWU's online BPH program. To my surprise, the curriculum is almost exactly the same as GWU (same text books, assignments and outcomes) except Excelsior is 8 weeks versus 14+. Both use blackboard, however, Excelsior has recently switched to Canvas which seems just as user friendly (I am currently pursuing my MPH with them). Overall I find Excelsior's Public Health curriculum just as challenging and rewarding as GWU's Public Health curriculum if ample time is put into studying. With that said, the papers, quizzes and exams are easier at Excelsior versus GWU. The negative reviews I see are almost entirely related to the NURSING program, which may be understandable as this type of program involves hands on learning that cannot always translate well via online learning. Medical School, PA school and Nursing are probably best suited for class room environments only to allow for hands on learning. I would like to see Excelsior remove their Nursing program in the future for the above reasons. I would like finish by saying, the professors I have had thus far have been excellent and very qualified and challenging. Their are a couple professors who have public health positions outside of teaching that takes time away from their attention to the class rooms and this is usually addressed in reviews, however, this has been rare and feedback to students is usually prompt and helpful. I chose to attend American Public University because I graduated high-school two years early and this was an online program that I did not have to leave home for. Read More one major bonus to them only being 8 weeks is you can take less classes at a time and still maintain the amount of credits you need for financial aid. 2. Almost all my professors were amazing. They were easy to get in contact with no matter where they were in the world or the time difference. They also understood that sometimes, life happens. This college is used by many working adults as well as military personnel, so the professor know how it is with working or deployments. 3. It is a work at your own pace program with deadlines. Let me explain, you have stuff that might be due Wednesday or Sunday (usually the two days), however you do not have a scheduled amount of time that you need to spend in classroom. So, if you do all of your work offline and then upload it, that is totally okay! It really gives you the freedom to keep your schedule that you are used to and work around it. 4. Overall, I really recommend this school to anyone who is looking for an online program.

The university was extremely accommodating to my busy military schedule. Through constant mentoring and communication, this university ensures that their students are receiving what they need to graduate.
Distance education does present many obstacles. Specifically, for people that have been out of school for a relatively long time, online education requires a great deal of prioritizing. Completing my bachelors degree with American Public University began my pursuit of higher education. This university was the second online program that I tried. By far, American Public University was extremely motivated to ensure that I graduated. My counselor called at the start of my class sessions just to check in. The instructors also provided great feedback and were available as needed. In addition to returning emails promptly, the instructors were also amenable to phone calls. In fact, during one class I was having a difficult time. My instructor spoke with me on the phone for nearly an hour. He worked tirelessly to assist me in understanding statistics concepts. That conversation assisted me in developing a better understanding the concepts that we discussed in the class.
The online classroom was one of the few challenges. The organization of the online classroom often appeared to be jumbled and difficult to navigate. It was not impossible to navigate, it was just somewhat difficult at times.
I would recommend this program to anyone that is eager and motivated about completing their degree.

When I first started going to Ashford, I was a year out of high school and found myself sleeping in the parking lot at my local college instead of going to class, I hated getting up at the butt crack of dawn and having to wait hours between classes. My research into an online school landed me at Ashford.

When I first started everything was great. I never had an issue with financial aid, getting textbooks or anything. However after 9 months, I got lazy and wasn't logging on to do my assignments like... Read More I should and I failed my class. THIS WAS MY FAULT, I had to pay back the money for that class. I didn't sign back up right away because I decided to join the military and explore other options.

After BCT and AIT, I got back into the workforce and didn't put a thought into going back. When I found out I was pregnant and had to quit my civilian job because they couldn't allow me to have the breaks I needed because I was high risk, I decided that this was the perfect time to go back to school to keep me busy. When trying to start back up, I had one admissions advisor who kept telling me I NEEDED these certain papers, that I didn't have, so I gave up. About two weeks after that I got a call from another admissions lady, that once I explained she apologized about the previous lady, and was able to get me back into school in two weeks.

Besides filling out about four or five forms and filling out my FAFSA yearly, I don't have to deal with paperwork. You just have to stay diligent when it comes to assignments and attendance. As in READ their policies.

My only complaint about the school, is actually the students. They aren't utilizing the tools they have and don't read assignments properly so it sometimes makes it hard to respond to their discussions or understand what they are trying to say.

If I was able to have a baby and not drop a class or it affecting my grade then there really shouldn't be an excuse for anyone else not being able to attend the classes like they should or not complete assignments. I love this school, especially now that they have an app that I can use from my cell phone to log into school.

I transferred from San Diego City College to NU, after receiving my AS in Biology. I would never recommend National University to anyone. The school is overpriced, and they do not lock in tuition rates, so my tuition kept climbing every year! I ended up with a lot more debt than I had anticipated and I only used loans for tuition and books, nothing more! I graduated with nearly 40K in student loan debt. I learned absolutely nothing! I could not find an agency or employer that NU approved, who would accept me on a part-time/evening basis. The Ronald McDonald House was the only place who accepted me and they had me CLEAN... I repeat, I was a maid! How is this supposed to help my career in any way?! The 4 week courses are unrealistic. At minimum they should be 8, you literally gain nothing from the courses! I had a few great professors but most were robots that brought no value. I had zero problems with financial aid and had 3 advisors over the course of 3 years. Moreover, nobody respects my degree, they rather hire an SDSU, UCSD, or USD student over me. Their alumni network is a joke, they did not have any career services to assist me, and provided me no real work experience or resources to use my degree.

Monroe College offers a variety of majors for an affordable cost compared to most private colleges. I was able to graduate with my Bachelors Degree in Science of Public Health in 3 years, fully covered by grants & scholarships. The professors were respectful, offered help, and for the most part were able to teach their courses correctly. College advisors were helpful in finding the right courses for me and offering opportunities for work study, networking, post-graduate events, etc. The scheduling... Monroe also has an internship requirement for graduation, leaving all students with something to have on their resume. Monroe has a cafeteria and a solid transportation system used to travel from the New Rochelle Campus and Bronx Campus. The areas for using Computers and doing work were always clean and quiet, allowing me to get my work done all the time. Due to COVID 19, I was able to experience the online version of Monroe and it helped my GPA a lot. Many of the courses had recordings of the class, so I was able to review material at any point in the semester. Also, being remote helped me focus on the professor/board and not get distracted by classmates. However, the curriculum was low level from my experience. Highschool was a lot harder for me but this is all subjective, some students might struggle with what I found easy. A majority of the content taught in my field is on quizlet, making it really easy to remember for exams. The only thing I found difficult was the Papers because they had long page requirements and a short amount of time to complete them. Overall, Monroe College is a great choice for people looking for a solid higher education at an affordable cost. I have not yet started my career but I believe Monroe has prepared me enough to be qualified for some entry level positions.

My daughter graduated from the Columbia campus in the middle of the pandemic. Her counselor never helped her at all. She could never get an answer when she called. She had no help preparing her for any type job once she graduated and when she emailed teachers for references, she got NO ANSWERS. She was continuously on the dean's list and once was on the president's list. She had no help getting a job and is currently in a part time job that she had to do other training for. I am very disappointed... Read More in the way she was treated after graduation. And now she's deeply in debt from this school.

Texas Woman's University has been such a blessing to me. They are extremely flexible and work with you as students. They truly understand the work/life/balance so many of us are tackling. I had some of the greatest professors there and learned so much about my area of study. They really prepare you for the world whether you are ready or not. My area of study was in public health promotion and education and my professors kept encouraging my cohort to become Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES)... I am extremely happy to say that I obtained my CHES because of them and it has helped my resume become more attractive for the workforce.

My professors have all seemed to care about my evolution as a student through their courses. I have never had trouble making an appointment or receiving feedback from my professors. Every semester I'll think I've found my all time favorite professor or class, just to find another the next semester! Read More is a huge area that the university has been focusing on, and it is a great idea for any prospective student to know how awesome University of South Florida is within the Central Florida area. I like that University of South Florida tries to show itself as a sustainable campus. If you come here for sustainability, just remember there are resources available but you need to put in a lot of work to make your dreams happen.

USF is a great school. Professors are well qualified. This semester, one of profs got her doctorate at OXFORD, another was an ACTUAL ambassador to Mali. The library has everything you need and free prints for students. Parking can be tricky but once you figure out the best times to arrive at school, it's really not an issue (plus overflow parking at the sun dome and parking garages helped).
