I am a mother of four and work full-time. Ashford's structure for my Master's allowed me to complete the program in a reasonable time and still have time for my family. I worked and studied hard throughout, and maintained a 4.0. It meant a lot of late nights and working on the weekends, but it was manageable. I was treated with courtesy and respect, and I felt like they cared about my success in completing the program. There are, most definitely, cheaper programs out there. For me, though, the structure, convenience, and efficiency of completion were well worth the cost. Before you select a program, do your research and consider all of the factors involved.

My experience has been absolutely wonderful. You get what you put in. For someone who is in their sixties, I have nothing but good things to share. You have to be dedicated and put in the time. If you are focused and work hard you can do well. It wasn't easy for me, but I did it. It took me quite some time to success, but I did it. I never gave up and never let anything stop me. Initially, after retiring from the military I found myself working an entry level government contracting job that I knew was well below the level of my experience, education, and abilities. Unemployment was high and the job market was extremely competitive. My new supervisor told me after my being hired that although I had the military experience similar to many of the job applicants, the one thing that put me above them was that I had a bachelors degree. He said many of the job applicants just had... Read More high school diplomas, others only a few colleges credits, and one applicant had an associates degree. In this market he said they could afford to be very picky on those selected for the open positions and that he could get educated and talented people without having to pay top salaries. For me this was a wake-up call. I realized that if I was going to be able to advance in the job market that I would need to pursue my education even further and obtain a post graduate degree. I applied to Ashford University and was accepted into their Master of Arts in Organizational Management Program. Since I was a working adult I truly appreciated Ashford Universities flexible schedule and my ability to complete my degree by taking online classes. It was a very challenging and rewarding experience. After graduating with a graduate degree I was able to obtain a much better job and my pay has steadily increased each year since.

I truly enjoyed my classes. I obtained my MBA from a University where I attended campus classes. In comparison, I worked harder (checked in daily, reading posts, writing responses, writing papers, etc.) with my online classes than when I attended my campus classes. One thing that stood out to me was how many classmates were in the military. I found myself reading and responding to their posts because I wanted to, not because I was required to. I maybe had 1 instructor that I didn't care for, but the others were great. I particularly enjoyed the law classes, and asked if there were additional classes I could take the from the instructor. If you are on the fence about attending AU... I say go for it. Make sure you're prepared, set a schedule for completing school work, stay focused, and don't give up even in hard times. Persevering will make your success that much sweeter.

I obtained both BA in Organizational Management & Accounting and MA in Organizational Management. Throughout the years of study my academic advisor, financial advisor and instructors were informative as well as assisted in keeping me on track.
