I liked Liberty University at first. They pull you in with the Christian school environment and Christ Centered classes. Each professor is different in my Doctoral program for Counseling. My first class group counseling was wonderful and I passed with a grade of A. My current class has a professor that immediately referred me for misconduct to my paper not cited correctly on APA. She referred me to Academic misconduct and I had to appeal the decision. The crazy thing is all she had to do was just... Read More talk to me about the problem and give me some advice. Nope and I felt like this don'take no sense. Where is the Christian grace and mercy this is was my second class. There was no concern about me and the professor did not reach out to me to help. I did tell her that I needed help with APA format It is just crazy. I agree with other reviews if you don't agree to the Biblical views or opinions don't match the professor they will take points off. I got 153 points off out of 200 points on one paper. I seen other peers that talked about what the professor liked more. I can only assume they got good grades.

I was in the Harold Abel School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. I earned my Ph.D. in Human Services: Specialization in Counseling. As a school counselor, the comprehensive and rigorous course work in the doctoral program has prepared me to be more effective when providing counseling services to not only children but to parents and guardians. Walden University is an exemplary institution that provides rigor and relevance regarding scholar-practitioner development. The curriculum, instruction, and assessment experiences were stellar encouraging networking and learning beyond the pages of the texts. Assumption College's graduate program in Counseling Psychology is fantastic. The professors and support staff work together to provide the highest-quality education based on the most the most current and effective counseling approaches. One of the most unique and beneficial parts of the program is the professor accessibility. Any student can request the help of a professor whether it be for questions regarding class or for issues related to that professor's area of expertise. This way, students received... Read More a customized education to best prepare them for work, a PhD program, or whatever they choose to do next. One drawback to the program is not having any online course options. I understand that the program prides itself on having face-to-face interactions with students in order to provide the best education. Though I respect that value and certainly understand the necessity of this interaction in particular classes, I believe that some classes can be offered online with the student receiving the same high-quality education. Overall, however, the benefits of this program far outweigh any drawbacks!

I feel that I have selected the best program for becoming a Doctor of Counselor Education and Supervision (CES). The quality of class work, research, teaching, counseling, advocacy, leadership and supervision CORE areas are outstanding. This program has been noted as the best graduate master and doctoral programs within the state of Illinois and within the American Counseling Association. The con is cost of living is VERY high along with tuition and fees.. Transportation is horrible, but in order to get the best education these are the scarifies you must make. As a person of color there will and can be challenges on a campus where the majority are people of non color, but again the quality of education and having a CACREP program is noted as one of the BEST in the field. I am happy with my time, money and life here at Northern Illinois University, because I am getting the BEST education in a CACREP doctoral program in Illinois.

I am fortunate to be in a wonderful program that carries very few disadvantages or cons. One disadvantage of my program is that research opportunities are very limited. It seems that the focus of my graduate program is more on clinical work rather than a product of clinical and research work. I feel the pros of my graduate program outweigh the cons. The availability of faculty and the small class sizes are wonderful at Waynesburg. It fosters a strong rapport between fellow students, which is important in the counseling profession. I am confident the degree I come away with from Waynesburg will provide me with the skills and background I need to do well in the field.
