Student Reviews of Online Secondary Education Programs
Overall the experience has been good. I don't agree with all of the steps, especially at the Master's level, but it is what it is. Still not even sure I want to be an educator in public education anymore, but it will be nice to finish this degree and hopefully have more doors open for me.

I accomplished so much in so little time at University of Phoenix. In 2 years I completed the remaining 96 units of my bachelors degree and my entire master’s degree. I couldn’t be more happy with the caring and supportive atmosphere the staff provides. I am looking forward to applying my education to my career and moving onward and upward from there!

I did a fully online Master's program (besides student teaching in person) and it was probably the easiest and most affordable way for me to complete this degree. What worked for me might not work for others, though. This is not a program that will hold your hand through the journey and you won't have the personal touch of a professor who knows you and cares about your well-being. You will get emails and posts about what you need to get done, and then they will leave you alone to get it done. This... Read More

I enjoyed every aspect of my program. Everyone I came in contact with helped me advance in my career. They never gave up on me and constantly helped me become better. I am very appreciative of those people. Without the help of those people I wouldn't have made it as far as I have.

I chose Liberty University Online for my Master's degree in education. At the time, I was looking for an online program due to the pandemic and my own work needs. Liberty advertised a Master's degree that was ideal for working adults and for people who were new to the teaching/education profession. While I had great professors and advisors, the fact remained that the program is obviously geared towards individuals who are already in the profession. In particular, the courses on tests/measurements... Read More

I’ve been in the Alt-A M.Ed program at West Alabama for a year and was supposed to start my student teaching internship at the start of next semester (Fall ‘21), but have now been forced to delay until Spring ‘22 because the program advisor failed to sign my application (which I submitted over a month before it was due) by the deadline. I have been trying to contact said advisor since I received an email informing me that my signed app was still missing, but all I’ve gotten is an auto-reply saying... Read More

When deciding on how and where I would complete my graduate degree and teaching certificate, I determined that efficiency and convenience was more important than the quality of the experience in my individual case. As an undergrad, I had an amazing and empowering educational experience, but because I was already employed in education and proficient in my field, I did not feel that I needed to duplicate that experience. GCU fit the bill. However, for those people lacking adequate experience working... Read More

I currenly student at Grand Canyon University. I learn a lot, great school and staff. I agree that sometime, some courseS are very hard and need a lot of reading and research but that what we are here for, TO LEARN AN DGAIN KNOWLEDGE. Moreover, they usually give you a lot of resources or you can also find them on GCU website.

I enrolled in Grand Canyon Universities Online graduate program for the Masters in Education, Secondary Education degree. I was able to double up on classes and finish the program earlier than most. My grade point average was 3.84 (GCU uses the 4.000 grading scale). Each course was 4 to 6 weeks long and had requirements for field work. Overall, my counselors and the staff of GCU always had open lines of communication, the grading was rigorous but it enhanced the academic experience by expecting more... Read More

University of Phoenix provides me with all the materials needed to become a very well prepared educator. I am proud to be a student and I would not trade my college for any other. I love the fact that I can call and speak to my advisors and counselors. They are always willing to help and encourage me when I need it. Having support is EVERYTHING! I only wish I could meet them in person just to give them a big hug for all they do!!

If I had it to do over again, I would NOT attend Grand Canyon University. I felt like I constantly had to push them and ask for help and direction before they would offer anything in the process of obtaining my teaching certification. (Also, when I would reach out to them for help inevitably that "wasn't their area" and would have someone else call me back.) Never once got any of my counselors without having to wait for a return call (living overseas the time change made that difficult.) They were... Read More

Graduate school is crazy. The assignments are long and exhausting, but in the end it will be all worth it! The only problem is that it's EXTREMELY expensive!

I feel this program has prepared me adequately for obtaining my certification. From the academic advisors to the instruction in my classes, everything and everyone has been prepared and organized to help me succeed. They have always answered my questions in a timely and professional manner. The amount of work required in each class wasn't overwhelming, but did keep me on my toes. Some of it felt like busy work, but most of it had good educational value to it. I would prefer to traditional brick and... Read More

I have loved how helpful all of my professors have been! Even though most of my classes have been online, I feel as though I know my professors and they have really put forth effort to get to know me as well. ODU's Education Department also places a strong emphasis on not only individual inquisition as it pertains to learning, but also on collaborative learning. As a future teacher, I think that both of these skills are equally important in preparing for my career.

I absolutely love the layout of the courses University of Phoenix has provided to me. As a mother, who is also working full time, a school that provided online classes with the flexibility to work within my schedule is wonderful. I needed a Master's degree to obtain the career I wanted in the Educational field, and thanks to the University of Phoenix that is possible.

I am doing my grad program online. Although I miss the in-class experience, an online program allows me to work full time (40 hours a week). WGU staff are very helpful, there are many people you can talk on the phone with or via webcam, and they utilize technology to the best of their ability. I have always been an independent learner, so taking classes online fits my study-skills. However, there is a lot of information to read online, and sometimes it is hard to focus on the computer for long periods... Read More

Overall UOP is a great school. I wish they offered ground classes that allowed me to get more face to face education in my area. But the online technology is advanced and allows me to easily interacted in my online forums. I enjoy it a lot.
